Microsoft exec says firm committed to diversity, inclusivity

MICROSOFT Philippines Inc. is fully supportive of initiatives to promote a diverse and inclusive environment, its chief executive said on Wednesday.

MICROSOFT Philippines Inc. is fully supportive of initiatives to promote a diverse and inclusive environment, its chief executive said on Wednesday.

In an event organized by the Makati Business Club, Microsoft Philippines Chief Executive Officer Peter Maquera pointed to continued company efforts to "engage, empower and support the success of people in all these places in the world, both inside and outside of our company."

"We can only do that successfully when we focus on including everyone and that's where diversity inclusion comes in," Maquera added.As the world's largest software company and the leading developer of personal-computer software systems and applications, he said that Microsoft also provided "parental and caregiver leave for all employees regardless of gender, pandemic leave, fertility and adoption support, and disability accommodations and support," among others."Our approach to core benefits is in line with the understanding of our employees' identities and aids."Maquera said that understanding was an integral part of the business and that different programs were in place to translate ideas intended for employees in areas such as intersectionality, mental health and disability.
